Prowler 1040 GTR Dive platform has been taken from the standard 1040 GTR design, and stripped back to the bare essentials and packed with featuring for divers.

The centralised seating and open areas facilitate gearing up and entering and exiting the water, as well as benches for passengers while underway. The rear of the bridgedeck has an opening gate for launching and retreiving divers.

The initial design has electric propulsion, meaning this vessel is completely eco-friendly and green for the environment. The lightweight Duflex panels and composite materials mean she will be pushed along easily with smaller electric engines and can utilise and battery bank and solar power.

The Prowler 1100 Water Taxi is a commercial charter vessel suited to ferrying passengers or transferring people or goods. The design is based on the Prowler 1100 hulls and has been adapted to house ample passenger seating, as well as standing area and a driving console.

Outboard engines are utilised on this design, meaning she can tilt the engines are get close to shore for embarking and disembarking of guests.

Perfect for use in the resort and leisure industry, the Water Taxi design is simple, easy to build therefore cost effective, and provides safety and a comfortable ride.

The Euro 1480 Bi-Plane is a new custom design commissioned by a client wanting to think outside the box and utilise the bi-plane rig on a commercial vessel. The concept suits commercial work well due to it's simplicity and the outward situated masts mean that the interior bridgedeck space can be utilised more effectively.

The interior layout of the Euro 1480 Bi-Plane features a large main cabin with ensuite situated forward on the bridgedeck, with a walk-around galley behind leading out to a large cockpit with plenty of seating for guests. Two queen cabins are located down in each hull, with their own toilet and shower and a smaller berth forward.

This layout would suit skippered chartering with crew occupying one cabin and guests in the main cabin, or any desired combination. The bi-plane rig means easy sailing and sail handling with minimal sail controls cluttering the deck space.

The Arrow Series of performance cruising catamarans has been steadily gaining popularity due to the modern angular styling and 100% flat panel construction method. With this in mind, a new commercial version of the Arrow 1500 design has been commissioned for day charter work - the Arrow 1500DC (Day Charter). This open bridgedeck vessel gives a practical layout with ample seating for a healthy number of passengers and with accomodations for crew.

The sailing ability will not be impacted too heavily and fully loaded she will perform well even in light winds, reducing costs of having to run engines and giving passengers a true sailing experience. Her shallow draft allows her to nose into sandy beaches easily to embark and disembark passengers and to load or unload equipment and supplies. Alaskan 41 Power Catamaran is a seaworthy passage maker, the Alaskan runs on very economical hulls, giving her cruising speeds of 16-17kts, and a top speed of 24kts pushed by just two 125hp Yanmar turbo diesels housed in separate engine rooms.

With such small Horse Power and very economical hull shapes the Alaskan has the fuel consumption figures to embarrass even the most frugal of monohull designs. Cruising at 16-17kts fuel consumption is 1.3ltrs per Nautical mile giving the Alaskan a range of close to 1000 sea miles. Sophisticated and stylish with accommodation to suit live aboard cruisers and well set up for very easy entertaining, this design suits a wide range of applications and can literally go anywhere.

The Sea Shanty evolved as an idea of Jeff's to create a large stable cruising platform, able to carry enough of the cruising toys to make it a real home away from home. The huge cockpit and multiple cabins make the Shanty into a real palace on the water. Motorbikes or a small car could be loaded via the aft ramp, if desired.

DESIGN FEATURES

A world cruiser, she has a generous payload to afford luxury.
Not all of the internal furniture is built in, household items may be used.
Moderate cruising speeds from 9-12 knots up to 24 knots.
Combination of strip planking and flat panel construction.
Fantastic for those that wish to escape it all and explore the globe.

“Sea Shanty”, the name conjures up visions of thatch, sand, and crystal clear water. Simplicity, practicality, and the great outdoors, this is exactly what she’s about. The Sea Shanty is based on the hull form of our very successful 16m Ferry built in Australia and used in Vanuatu to carry passengers around the islands.

While she was being built, Lorraine and I spent some time cruising on our Trimaran and we kept coming back to the idea that the Ferry would make the ideal platform for a comfortable world cruising home.

Whilst we love life aboard, we also miss our toys and comforts, pets, family and space whilst cruising. We like to keep active and felt that a large seaworthy platform with simple but stylish accommodation and a large outdoor area was very desirable.

So the design evolved. Where the Ferry needed decent displacement to carry 75 passengers the Sea Shanty needs the displacement for home comforts plus fuel and water for extended ocean passages. As a passage maker, speed was moderated to a comfortable mile eating 12 – 16 knots and a bar crossing sprint of up to 20 knots.

Construction is our proven Schionning build system that has been producing beautiful catamarans for over 20 years - the high tech composite materials, including pre-laminated panels and some strip planking (to achieve the soft curves of the design). West System epoxy and S-Glass (lighter yet with the same strength and stiffness of standard fibreglass) cloth is used for the shell construction. Carbon options are certainly available and quite popular, however these choices need to be made by you the owner, to produce an end result that is within your chosen budget.

As a designer you’ve got to love those few clients who want something different and way out there. The Growler 1500 GTR design concept is for one of our loyal repeat owners, this being his fourth Schionning and happily loved them all, why wouldn’t you, most of them new cutting edge sailing cats but now looking at the growing power cat market he’s again thinking way outside the square.

We are using the new Whisper hull form we have been developing over the last few years, shallower draft, lower drag ratios and yet still having the superb soft ride and sea keeping ability of our VT series. She has generous hull beam giving huge accommodation in the hulls and high load values. Styling follows our G‐Force trend with the reverse bows, but has the sleek yet aggressive Growler Power Cat look, flexing those muscles.

The Growler 950 VTR is an evolution of ideas from various clients asking for the same overall design concept. A modern, sleek power cat that is fuel efficient, is ideal for overnighting and weekending and can be trailered home for storage (with a permit in some states).

This has lead to the development of the Growler 950 VTR. Her sleek looks are sure to turn heads in any anchorage or the local boatramp, and with just two 90hp outboards she will get you there in no time – and in comfort!

The patented and well-tested Vapor Trail hull shape is known for its wave-piercing characteristics - cutting through the heaviest swell, and her high bridgedeck clearance will ensure zero slamming.

The forward cockpit really opens up the aft area into a platform ideal for fishing (game chair mounted between the outboards?), swimming, sunbathing or just for deck chairs and socialising.

SDI Growler 880 GTR is Fast, Fun and Ballsy, our new Growler 880 GTR power cat is perfect for week‐ending and coastal cruising.

You’ll be very surprised at how much room is inside this ‘small’ cat – there is plenty of accommodation for a big family, including a good sized private head and shower. If you’re more likely to enjoy fishing with a bunch of your mates, we’ve got that covered too.

We have used our new “Whisper” hull shape on the Growler 880 GTR, a development from the VT hull form using the wide hull beam but with “soft” V entry giving a similar seaworthy ride but having the advantage of shallower draft for shallow areas and beaching.

Quick to plane, we are using 115hp outboard engines on Stealth 1 she will cruise comfortably at around 18 to 20 knots with a top speed of 28 – 30 knots expected, but if you use more power, you’ll get more speed. The Whisper” hulls will deliver incredible comfort and safety, even in rough sea conditions, much like our well proven VT’s.

The Schionning Designs Growler 880 GTR wide hulls offer very good volume inside providing unusually good accommodation in a cat this size and yet still offer very good fuel economy.
